On April 20th, we remember the life of General Trần Văn Trà, a key figure in Vietnam’s military history. Born on October 15, 1918, he was a Vietnamese general, a communist, and a military strategist who played an essential role in the fight for Vietnam’s independence. Trần Văn Trà was a senior commander in the People’s Army of Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and he was instrumental in leading the Viet Cong forces against the United States and South Vietnamese armies.

Trần Văn Trà’s leadership and strategic planning were critical in the success of the Tết Offensive, a series of surprise attacks launched by the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces against the South Vietnamese and U.S. forces during the Vietnam War.
